Shane Doan

Shane Doan – Professional ice hockey forward who currently serves as captain of the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League. Shane has played 19 NHL seasons with the original Winnipeg Jets/Phoenix Coyotes franchise. In addition to being an Olympian for Team Canada.

Doan is the last remaining player left from the Jets/Coyotes team when they moved to Phoenix, and one of three players currently active in the NHL from the original Winnipeg Jets. Doan has won two gold medals and two silvers at the World Championships as well as one World Cup championship in 2004.

Biography

Born Shane Albert Doan, October 10, 1976 in Halkirk, Alberta

Parents are Bernie and Bernice Doan – Shane’s famous cousins include Carey Price and Keaton Ellerby

Lives in Phoenix year round with his wife Andrea and four children (Gracie, Josh, Karys and Carson)

Won the Memorial Cup (and was named tournament MVP) with the Kamloops Blazers in 1995

Drafted in the 1st round (7th overall) by the Winnipeg Jets in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft

Became captain of the Phoenix Coyotes in 2003-2004

Won Gold Medals with Team Canada at the 2003 and 2007 World Hockey Championships

Played in the NHL All Star Game in 2004 and 2009

Won a Gold Medal with Team Canada at the 2004 World Cup of Hockey

Played for Team Canada in the 2006 Winter Olympics

Recorded his best statistical season in 2007-2008 with 28 goals and 78 points in 80 games

Won the King Clancy Memorial Trophy in 2010 for his leadership and humanitarian efforts

Scored his first NHL Hat Trick on January 7th, 2012 with his 3rd goal coming at 19:59 of the 3rd period
